We just purchased a 97 Sooner 3 h. It's in excellent condition. There is however some pitting of floors. We cannot afford Line-X or Rhino right now. I wonder if any of you guys know of a protective brush-on product..ya know,,do it yourself? I know there are paints such as Rustbullet that oxidize and protect, any suggestions? Thanks.

Your local auto parts store probably has something. I bought a paint on liner that worked amazingly well. I used it on the sidewall where some matting was missing and also underfoot in an area like you are describing. Sorry, can't remember the name of it though.

How bad is the pitting? Is it just normal or are there spots that are questionable? I have actually considers using heavy duty duct tape to seal the seams of the mats. That would prevent most of the urine from leaking thru to the floor.

Duct tape is great,but I want to cover the floor itself.We Line-Xed our 2 horse 6 yrs ago and it gives 'peace of mind' in case we forget to do our regular 'house cleaning'...We don't have the extra $800 right now so I was hoping someone out there may have done the same..but all input is great.thanx

Terri, I found Herculiner at Auto Zone,but I think I would prefer to have something to neutralize any existing corrosion {since the trailer is a '97} and plan to later have it Line-Xed. Thanx for the suggestion,it helped

I don't know about allum trailers, but for my steel trailer I plan on taking it to a local industerial welding shop to have it sand blasted to have the rust/old paint removed before I paint it. You could have the corrosion removed (however its done on alluminum) and then paint it.

I was told by my trailer dealer that baking soda under the mats will slow the pitting. We bought big bags (4 pound I think) at Costco which were inexpensive. We removed the mats and scrubbed the floors with baking soda. Once the floors were dry we put baking soda on the floors and replaced the mats. It does seem to help neutralize the urine.
