Has anyone used "the tailgater" by dish net in their LQ Trailer or RV. If so, would you recommend it. I travel mainly in NC and SC and need a satellite solution. I currently have dish net at home and could just add the tailgator to my acct.

My husband and our friends have the Tailgater and they both love it. If you get one, make sure you do the set-up at home. You can't do it on the road. Happy TV!

We had the Weingard satellite installed on our living quarters trailer and have enjoyed being able to get the weather and news while camping. It works great we just take our extra dish box and use that while we are on the road. If we have any problems I just call Dish and they talk me through what I need to do. Plan to buy an extra box and just keep it in the trailer. I don't know how the tailgater would work. I checked on this but didn't know how you would wire it. You will enjoy having satellite TV while you are on the road.

Another choice is the Winegard Pathway X2. Can be purchased at Camping World or on line. This device will work with (2) receivers at the same time. Anything is better than a tracking dish on the roof, there is always a tree in the way!

We have the Winegard Carryout satellite that we purchased at Camping World. We ordered an extra box from Directv and it stays in the trailer. We like the carryout because it finds the signal for you and it can be moved around if you are in an area with lots of trees.

How do you hook up the carry out to the trailer? We had a Winegard installed on our trailer because I didn't know how they would connect a carry out to the trailer. We like the permanent Winegard and have always been able to connect to the satellite.

We have a tailgater and have been happy with it. We take a Dish box from a spare bedroom when we travel. Have used it mainly in Ark. and Missouri. It's great if you're parked under trees because you can set the tailgater in an open area to get a signal. It sure is nice to be able to watch the weather, and if it rains out a ride, really nice to have entertainment!

Hi Jayhawk, sorry it took me so long to reply. We have a cable connection on the outside of our trailer, I believe it is called a pass through connection, that we hook the cable from the sat into and then we have a receiver box inside that we connect to. The mobility of the carry out is great because it lets us have more chance to get a signal when we are camping in some of the more shady areas..the cable that runs from the dish itself to the connector on our trailer is 50 feet long. As for powering the sat, we have a receptacle mounted under the neck of the trailer that looks like a cigarette lighter.

I also have the Carryout and really have been happy with it. I like the fact that you can set it anywhere, I have some times just set it on the roof top of the trailer, then don't have to worry about it (or the wire) getting tripped on in the darkness. Pretty much just set up when I park and it does its thing and is ready to go by the time I am done setting up campsite. I also carry an extra roll of cable and a connector in case I have to go further away from the trailer.

JacciB - Guess we could have done this. But I read somewhere that satellite wiring and cable wiring were different. Guess I should have check into it more than I did. The Tailgater is less expensive. Thanks for information.

I have the Wingard Carryout. Works well, as far as the equipment goes, but there is still nothing to watch. I have my Kindle and satelite radio, so the television doesn't get much use.
