I am looking to purchase a 3 horse 8' LQ moderately priced trailer. I looked at a new Exiss which I liked for the most part except for the rear doors and the drop down windows. They just seemed flimsier than they used to be. This is not the Sport model, which I understand they quit making. I used to have an 05 Exiss Event and it seemed to be built sturdier than this new one is. Does anyone know if they are making them differently now? Anyone have trouble with the windows or doors on the newer models?I am also considering a Cimarron but it looks like they only make a 6'10" wide rather than 7 wide (I don't really need 8' wide and the price difference is considerable.) There aren't any near by that I can look at so would likely have to purchase out of state if I choose to go with the Cimarron. Can anyone tell me if the 2" difference is noticable? Doesn't seem like it would be but without seeing it in person it's hard to tell.Also, any input on these brands of trailers is appreciated.

That is funny! Quit making the "sport" model?! I called Exiss a while back and asked them about their "Event" model and was told that they no longer make the "Event" model. That model was the heaviest duty out of the two. If they no longer make the "Sport" or the Event", then what are they making?! It looks to me like all the newer trailers I have seen, look to me to be the "sport" model. They just don't look like the better built Event model. None of the newer ones anyways.

We have a 3 horse slant Cimarron BP that is 6'10" wide and all our 15.2H horses fit comfortably. I doubt that would be true if there were mangers. Cimarron builds a very nice trailer that you would be pleased to own. I personally would find a LQ trailer less then 8' wide lacking in space.

Hmmmm, if they don't make the Sport or the Event then maybe they stopped making two different lines of trailers? If anyone knows how these newer models compare to the old Event line as far as construction and windows/doors I would be very interested. And yes, I've heard good things about the Cimarron's and the price is nicer than what many consider the higher end trailers.

A quick look on the Exiss website shows everything now has a number model, rather than a name. Much like their sister company Featherlite.
There is a 6'8"W slantload, and a 7'W model. Used to the Sport was the 6'8" and had .040 skin, the Event was 7'W and had .063 skin. Both have .040 now.
It seems as if many manufacturers have "maximized" the materials in newer designs, and I'm sure that is the case here also.
If you are looking for something built like a 7-8 year old Event, I'm thinking you'll have to look elsewhere.

The Cimarron trailer is a very well built trailer. You can get a Cimarron in a 7'6" or 8' Wide. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help in finding you a trailer to fit your needs

Currently, have both. Exiss is the "infamous" Sport model. Works for what I use it for and saved 5k on the purchase over top shelf brands. Cimarron is 12'LQ, 4 horse and would consider it top of the line. Expect to be buried with the Cimarron and expect to weigh up the Exiss before that. To me, no comparison but get what works for you. IF you plan on putting a lot of miles (20k a year +)and tougher use, would recommend the Cimarron. If you only use it a few times a year, the Exiss should work fine. The 2" difference will not be noticeable. Good luck!

I have a 2006 20 foot on floor Cimerron Gooseneck, 8 Ft wide. They will build it any way you want. The 8 foot wide is an option. Mine is actually a 4 horse type divided up into 3 giant stalls with heavier axles for hauling draft horses.

The Cimarron is a phenomial all aluminum trailer. One of the stoutest out there!! You will get a hail resistant roof, insulated roof panel, cross members every 4" (vs most manufacturers that 6-8"), stouter side posts. They make their own windows and doors and they are some of the stoutest on the market. You can litterly lift the trailer up by the back doors with a forklift without they bending or buckling. The couple inches on the inside that you feel you will "lose" will be well worth the sacrifice for everything else you are gaining with quality! Please let me know if I can help in any way!
