It is a nice place. They have good restrooms with showers. Also I think they have a washing machine & clothes dryer that can be used. I believe they have a couple of bunk houses that can be rented. During the summer months the trails can be bad due to the bugs / flys. If you go down there between August 15 thru January 1, keep in mind that people in the surrounding area may be deer hunting. The area is not 100% for horses & trail riding. Hayward & Dona Simmons are very nice people & they will go out of their way to help you have an enjoyable trip. My horse banged her front leg one time & Hayward met us out at the road & carried my saddle & stuff back to camp as I walked my horse back in because she had a slight limp. Found out that she had just banged the back of front leg with her hind foot & she was fine to ride by the next morning. I think that Lakeview is a nice place to ride in SC. During various times of the year they have organized rides down there, you may want to look into one of those weekends. Hope you have a nice trip down if you decide to stay there.

I go to Lakeview usually 3 times a year...Spring, early-late fall and even early winter. The riding is easy, in the SC lowcountry. Good footing on trails..no shoes needed (I go barefoot..natural trim..boots when rocky,etc.) Really like the camping...elec./water/sewer. Panel stalls at your campsite. Haywood and Donna are great....soooo helpful. Riding in Oct.-Jan., hunting season. However, should they close a trail, hunters are off around 9:30 and you can ride them all until 3:30 or later (have to check with Haywood). Since the time gets shorter then, you will be about ready to come back around 3:30. Summer is really hot!! Spring is my favorite (and Sept./Oct) Great place for just ambling along...has water and creek crossings (although this year was kinda dry). Really good for new trail horses/young ones. We really like it...

Hey, just got back from Lakeview and loved it. The best part was the natural sand footing, you could go for miles with barefooted horses. There were 3 different "wagon trails" that I could trot and canter and not drop down to a walk to read the direction signs. I consider the trails beginner level, very easy. There were a ton of pens for your horses with camper hook ups right next to them. The wierd thing was we went down the first week of March, perfect horse weather with highs in the 60's and there were only 3 other trailers down there through out the week. Even the sandy soil in the pens made it easy to clean them every morning. They had laundry facilities too which was really nice. . Haywood the owner was great to talk with and really interesting. Just a great place
