Although I don't get the opportunity to ride very often anymore, a always spend a few minutes checking up on what everyone else on this site is doing. Seems like there are a lot fewer folks travelling this year. I guess the economy is kicking everyone's butt. I hope next year is better. Ii really enjoy reading your posts about your horsey adventures.

Grnmchedaze, sorry you are getting laid off. My husband's plant contract has been touch and go since May. Thankfully they settled two weeks ago. This is the first time ever I can remember that we haven't been camping every other week somewhere. The worry over work and the weather has just been so unbearable this year. Hopefully we have a mild fall so we can get some riding in. Our horses have gotten fat from lack of work.

It's not so much the finances but the flippin' HEAT that is keeping me off the trails.
Heat index today is supposed to be 115*
We did take a nice little trip the first week of July. Temps were in the low 90s so we took short rides early in the morning and spent the afternoons in the camp pool.

Same here -- too much heat, too much humidity, too much rain. Best camping trip this year was to Midwest Trail Ride over July 4th weekend. It was hot, but the trails were in great shape. I'm ready for Fall. Weather permitting, I'll be out there every weekend.

We were at Midwest trail Rides on 4th of July holiday also!
Saturday was really nice-- Monday was REALLY hot!
Weather for us also. We have a trip planned near the end of September to MO and in October to IL -- I'm not sure we'll be doing much weekend camping unless the weather really breaks.

This year's weather has not be trail-friendly for the Mid-West. Bitter cold and snow until April, then torrential rains (and I mean monsoon type every three days) inApril and May, with continued rain and high heat for June and July. Kansas has had higher dewpoints than Miami, Florida and New Orleans most of the summer.
I'm dreaming of a DRY and cool fall before winter sets in again.
