Hi,
i have a few question about horseback riding around Lake Tahoe in the winter: does anybody know of any palce where we could board our horses (2)? any boarding place? or a cabin/barn combo for rent?
Eventually our main goal would be to ride in the snow hence the winter part, as we could camp with horses during the summer/spring
Any advices for going up there during winter?(from the BayArea) We would be towing a Circle J 4h slant BP (a little over 4,200lbs and 21-22 ft long, all-aluminum hence the low weight) and about 3,000lbs of horses with a 05 F150 4x4 V8 (but we could get access to an 06 f250 diesel 4x4 if needed). Does the trailer and towing vehicle need chains?

Try Euer Valley Ranch. Friends of mine have gone there and been really happy with the camp sites and trail availability. I'm going next summer with them, but can't speak from personal experience yet. I don't know if they're open during the winter either. I think they have a website, but a phone call might work better.

Gemm, Ole' cowpony here.......been busy riding all summer and trying to get my site fixed to put the rest of my rides up online, anyways.........give me a hollar on what weekend or when you are taking your trip to Euer, I would love to meet up with ya! I finally got to meet up with two gals from Nevada that I talk with from a Yahoo group. We had a blast and can't wait until next summer to plan some campouts! Keep me posted

Cowpony - I'll probably see my friend who made the reservation this weekend. I'll get back to you with the dates. Have you been to the Euer Valley horse camp? We drove in just to check it out last summer. It looked nice, but I understand you want to avoid July because of the flies. The trails are supposed to be great.

Never been, that's why I would love to go with a group, heard there are lots of trails easy and hard, hopefully some harder ones, they (euer Valley's) gotta compete with the trails I'm used to! LOL! Keep me posted!

I just went camping at Euer Valley ranch in the beginning of October this year and they may be closing for good. My friend and I may have been the last people to camp there. The guy that has been the "grounds-keeper" for the last 11-12 years or so, or you may know him as "Paul" received a letter from the owners of the ranch stating that they would no longer need him. That they weren't sure that they were going to be doing this anymore. He is heart-broken. He has been going up every year during the warm months and living up there, taking care of the place and such. Hope the owners of the ranch change their minds. We are losing our trails and camping spots all the time.

Well that's sad! Since I first wrote about going next summer, I found out another group of friends have planned to go too. Both these people have reservations....I wonder if/when they'll be notified if the place closes. OK Cowpony, it's time you opened up your own tour service I guess!

Are your friends good friends of the Euer Family? That might be the reason for the reservations next year? Maybe they will only be letting their personal friends use their property exclusively? Please let me know if you find out. Thanks

Not personal friends, but both groups have camped there before and LOVED it! I've been hearing how great it is for 2 years now, and I thought I finally would get to go next summer. This is so sad. I hate it when trails and horse camping areas close!
