Ordered some Timbrens for my truck.I'm having a buddy from work install them. Are there any tips or suggestions to make sure they are put on right? This guy builds mud trucks for a hobby. After looking at the on line instructions he said the install should be a piece of cake. I just want to make sure there isn't anything too bad that can happen if not done exactly right. I'm not mechanical at all so any help will be appreciated. The reason I'm having him do it is the shop I would have taken the truck to quoted $420.00 parts and labor. I'm getting the parts for $216.00 tax and shipping included. Truck is a 2004 Dodge 3500 SRW quadcab shortbed 4x4 Diesel.

I have them on my '03 Ram 2500. Installation looked to be reeal easy. My local shop charged less than a hundred bucks foe installation. Like you, I'm not very mechanical. But if I were 20 years younger, I might have taken a crack at putting them on. I'm very happy with them.

I paid only $34 more than that for air springs, ZERO shipping.
I don't see the point of Timbrens with air bags costing so little more and being so easy to install - also MUCH better, especially when the truck is unloaded or lightly loaded.

Timbrens are a very easy install. A little penetrating oil, zip-zip with the air gun and you are done on that side. As far as why I used Timbrens instead of air bags. Simple. No air leaks to worry about, no air that needs to be added, just install them and you are done. They are simple, that is why I bought them.

I added them to my 2003 dodge last year and it was very simple. They come with a spacer that you can put in or leave out. I left it out so they didn't contact the axle until the truck had a load on it. If you put it in, your truck would ride harsher without a load. Without the spacer, they were still enough to level my truck with a heavy load. I believe there were just 2 bolts per side.

Thanks everyone. It does sound pretty simple I just wanted to make sure. The last thing I want to happen is not get them on right and have a miss hap while pulling.

Just be sure that you've got a bit of space between the timbren at normal ride weight. If you hit on/off those all the time, you'll have a less-than-desirable ride quality.

The instructions call for 3/4-1" space for 1/2 and 3/4 tons and 1/2" for 1-tons. My truck is a 1-ton I run empty 99% of the time. Is 1/2" too close for that? I'm having them put on because my truck squats about 3-4" with my trailer on it and that makes it touch the overload springs. It touches even when not moving. i felt the Timbrens would level it out especially while driving at night. Don't like to blind people with my lights.
