You all are prob. grumble at me if I put another ride up, I know some of you are in snow and cold now, but thanks to some storms missing us in Cali. I was able to take Josie up to the town where I grew up and take a nice short ride. so I'll post two pics from that ride until my webpage on that ride is running............
A semi 3/4 view of Josie and her tail growing out very nicely after 3 month.....

Very nice! Most of our snow is gone here now, so I've been riding quite a bit lately too- just around home tho, have not gone to any parks yet. Got a couple young ones in training, that keeps me busy too. I am, however, jealous of the 'green' in your pic- everything here is brown and dingy!! Happy trails!

Hey Terri, didn't get to this till now...............sorry,
she has always had a very short tail, up above her hocks. None of my pics really show it. As of today, i am proud to say it is 5 inches below her hocks! I used to be the brush and rip through to get er' done kind of gal., Her mane is right to the bottom of her neck. I am conditioning it with diluted Cowboy Magic everyday, and she is getting my other mares Farriers Formula, as it has made "Silly's" tail and mane long to no end, so why not feed it to her too if I got it for other conditons. I need to take pics of it to show you.

I may have to try that stuff on my appys. We'll have to wait and see about my new baby, but my yearling has a wonderfully long/thick mane and tail but her dam and my gelding have...... almost no manes and tail bones with a few hairs.

How much do you dilute the Cowboy Magic and with what? I've been using it straight. It's great stuff but $$$. And Farriers Formula for mane and tail? Interesting.

I've learned another secret to long and thick m & tails- trim off the ends 2xs a year; keep them clean (a good rinse is all you need- but "Herbal essense" conditioners work wonders, and are cheaper than horse products)and I use human hair brushes, not 'horse combs' that rip hair; one more thing, when brushing the mane, brush close to the crest, and also flip the mane to brush the underside- get as close to the roots as possible- it stimulates the hair follicles and spreads natural oils down the hair shaft. On tails, brush from off the bone/underneath as well, again stimulating the follicles. My friends tease me- "I have to go stimulate my horses' follicles now"- but guess what? They now have beautiful manes and tails! You really increase the growth rate by brushing that way, and one more thing- products like "Mane and tail" conditioners/shampoos have wax in them, that clogs the pores and you'll see little growth. Ok, I'm a bit 'picky' about grooming- jest thought I'd share!

I definitely envy the green in the photos!! I think spring is finally here... there is a very faint green in the pastures. I saw your website with the trail rides - great job. Your mare reminds me of my QH gelding, Trapper. (I have a photo of him on my website www.myclayart.com under "my critters"). Both are cuties!
