We have a gas 1999 F250 V10 single axle short box pickup with a new fairly new transmission. The question is, can this pick up pull a 38 foot long, 8 foot wide, 3 horse living quarter trailer with a slide out, steel frame, 17800 pounds? We will only be hauling 2 horses.Anyone have any idea?

A more complete answer is check your Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating.  It'll be in your manual.  You'll have to look for your engine, rear axle, etc.

Add the trailer weight to the truck weight = GCVWR

But for 17,800 pound trailer ... Not likely.

Also ... Youe have to keep from overloading your truck's axles.

Again... not likely with that trailer.

Is the 17,800 a trailer weight, or the GVWR? Sounds heavy for the empty trailer be a few tons.

I'd guess that truck is rated at the most to pull a combined load of 20,000 pounds. Just guessing by age. That is a big trailer......I agree, bigger truck, or smaller trailer needed
