Has anyone camped lately at High Knob? Just wondering conditions of camp grounds? Also what are the trails like? We have had conflicting reports. Some say really well maintained, others don't think so. We recently camped at Hayes, wonderful campgrounds and trails. Just like to know how high knob compares also how rough are the trails from there?

I have only camped at Hayes Canyon myself...but I have heard the terrain is similar in the High Knob area...They haven't recieved as much rain there as we have in east central part of the state and friends who are there most of the summer say the ground bees are out in full force...proceed with causion !!   HAPPY TRAILS................

We were at Hayes in late June we ran into ground bees several times.
Just wondering about the trails, some say that they are extremely rocky
at High Knob.
We enjoyed the riding conditions at Hayes, and like rocks but was wondering if there was a huge differnce between the two?

We recently camped at Double M which shares some of the same trails of high knob from what we were told.  I really enjoyed the trails in that area.  There are some areas that have rock to encounter.  However, we had a two year old with limited trail experience and he did an outstanding job on most of them.  I can't personally speak for high knob but Double M is in close proximity and I would certainly recommend that campground.

I am a Hayes camper myself, but my friend went to HighKnob this year and said it was the best riding she's ever seen in Shawnee.  She has been going there for over 20 years and stayed at multiple campgrounds.  So, based on her review, I'd go in a heartbeat!

The trails at High Knob can be very rocky or mild, depending on the trails you ride. They have both. Most places in the Shawnee have both available. I'd ask the locals that ride them, all of the time, to advise you on the difficulty of the trails you plan to ride. If the trails are marked with the Forest Service markers, they are usually relatively mild trails. But, those are not always the more scenic trails.

Bob, you practically live in Shawnee. Bob is a great information source.

Anxiously awaiting your report on Utah.
