As most of this forum knows...Towing a horse trailer uses a large amount of fuel.
That cost is going to increase exponentially if the Waxman-Markey bill in Congress passes today. It is also known as the Cap & Trade bill. It will tax all sources of CO2. You know, anything that burns fuel...
The "purpose" of this law is to reduce CO2 to prevent global warming. I call political scam on this.
Science says the climate has changed for many millions of years. It has been hotter and colder before.
True science does not say CO2 is a global thermostat we can use to control climate.
It is also the height of human arrogance to say we can control weather and "THIS" is the correct temperature of the planet.
Call your congressional rep today to vote No to this bill.

It took a little longer than normal for me to get in touch with my rep today, but I did voice my displeasure with this bill. I don't want to get into the whole global warming BS, but if this so called "Cap and Trade" is just implimented in the USA, and not China, Russia, Japan ect...... then it will be nothing but a job killing bill. If we strap this cost onto American Companies they will surely be at a disadvantage in the marketplace.

It's still not too late to call and make your needs known to our leadership.
The same amount of gasoline that would have $1 in carbon costs imposed if it were domestic would have 10 cents less added if it were imported, according to energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie in Houston. Contrary to President Barack Obama’s goal of reducing dependence on overseas energy suppliers, the bill would incent U.S. refiners to import more fuel, said Clayton Mahaffey, an analyst at RedChip Cos. in Maitland, Florida.
“They’ll be searching the globe for refined products that don’t carry the same level of carbon costs,” said Mahaffey, a former Exxon Corp. refinery manager.
Prices Seen Rising One in six U.S. refineries probably would close by 2020 as the cost of carbon allowances erases profits, according to the American Petroleum Institute, a Washington trade group known as API. Carbon permits would add 77 cents a gallon to the price of gasoline, said Russell Jones, the API’s senior economic adviser.

Well my bonehead Congressman from a coal producing state, was one of the ones that voted for it. So I guess I will have to do all I can to see he is not re-elected. I can't believe that a Congressman from KY. would vote to cripple the coal industry. That's what is wrong with Washington, they are all looking to take care of their buddies instead of the people from their state.

We're paying 98 cents a liter here in south central Canada and undoubtly substantially more in the northern regions. That would equate to $3.82 US. per gallon, granted our gallon is a little larger than yours.

Imperial gallon conversion isn't needed.
1 gallon us is equal to 3.785 liters so one us gallon costs you 3.785 x $ 0.98 Can = $ 3.7093 Can
Current exchange rate Bank of Canada, June 26 closing $1 Can = $.8664 US
$3.7093 x .8664 = $ 3.214 US per US Gallon
I just paid $ 2.57 US per gallon in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. (lower priced than typical around here)

NOTE: Last weeks crude oil futures were trading over the $100.00 dollar mark. which would indicate that crude oil will be well over a $100.00 a barrel in the next two - three months????????????????????
