Anyone have WERM flooring for 5+ years? How well has it held up?

We did one of our first installations about 12 yrs ago for a foxhunter.  She uses the trailer 3 times a week during season and her horses have borium.  Everything is holding up fine.

That's a great question about WERM flooring longevity! It's important to consider how these types of coatings hold up over time.

Based on available information, there are potential concerns about how it holds up over extended periods in horse trailers.

While it provides a cushioned surface and eliminates the need for mats initially, the key issue is what occurs beneath the coating over time. If the application isn't flawless, moisture can become trapped between the WERM and the original floor. This can lead to corrosion or rot, which may go undetected.

Achieving a consistently perfect seal during installation is challenging, and factors like trailer age and environmental conditions can affect the bond. If the bond weakens, moisture issues become a significant risk.

Essentially, long-term problems are a concern due to the potential for moisture entrapment and the difficulty of guaranteeing a perfect application. These coatings don't strengthen the existing floor; they simply cover it... potentially hiding underlying issues.

While some might have positive experiences, the risks make it a less-than-ideal long-term solution for many. Alternative flooring options like pressure-treated lumber or Rumber, which form the actual floor, are often considered more reliable.
