I've been looking at the "Fan-tastic" vent fan and they seem like a pretty good alternative to installing an AC unit. It looks like they just fit right into the roof vent that's already there and run off 12v. I would only use it at night-too busy at the shows during the day. Has anyone gotten one or heard anything about them? Thanks!

We have one over our bed. Also have AC. love the fact that it can suck air in or blow it out. Am presently a cover over the vent so it can be open in the rain or going down the road. became necessary after cover cracked, and the wifey got wet from the leak. Funny, I stayed dry, so it didn't bother me.

I know you may have sticker shock when you price them,but,we've had 2 MaxxAir fans in our LQ and they are wonderful.Draws air in,vents air out,variable speeds,thermostatically controlled,ect.These are the fans that come on the RV "pushers" and lots of times,you can run this and not even have to run your A/C at night and probably during the day depending on the temp.They are a 110 however so you would have to have a generator or be plugged in to a 30 amp plugin site.

I did look at the MaxxAir but unfortunately do need 12v, we don't always have hookups. I like the fan-tastic fan 5000 because it has a thermostat but couldn't really tell if it comes with a cover or you just use the cover that's already on your vent. I don't think this one has the rain sensor that opens and closes automatically-do you just open the vent manually when you want to run the fan?

I have something very similiar in my tack/sleeping area, it's an old "Sure Flo", I finally found parts for it out here in Cali. To replace the darned thing is expensive, and the parts weren't to cheap either, but anyways...........I love mine, came with my trailer, and it can run all night and not run down, but I also have a deep cell marine battery on my trailer too. I haven't really needed to use it in the mountains, but when I clean out my front after camping I turn it on to keep out the heat here at home while cleaning. It works great. This Fantastic Fan Vent like I said is very similiar to mine, so should work great if you don't go where it's too blessed hot. For some fresh air or to exhaust "sleepy time fumes" at night should be fine, otherwise if it's too hot air conditioning might be your way to go.....
