Can someone please tell me what I need to do to charge my trailer battery from my truck while driving? I have a 99 Ford truck (3/4 ton), a Sundowner GN, and a 6 pin connector.

I didn't install the trailer batt charging option on my 2000, F-250 but in my towing package kit there there were two relays and a jumbo fuse that went into the circut box under the hood, this made the orange trailer charging plug wire live. I made a copy of the install inst's for a friend and have since misplaced both but I'm still looking, if it'll help I can get the #'s off the two relays.

I'm assuming that your 99 and my 01 Fords are the same for the trailer connector pin hookup. If you look really close on the cover of the connector, there is a diagram of pins and what they are dedicated to power. You should be able make the connection pretty easy using the diagram. Another word of advice about trailer batteries; I always charge my trailer batteries overnight before leaving for a weekend with a trickle charger. That way, I know the batteries are fully charged before we leave and I'm not making the charging system on my truck work harder than needed. Try putting "the 12 volt side of life" in your search engine and see what you get. Reg reommended this site a while back and seems to have good info about wiring. Happy trails.
