Recently replaced our day Trailer that was  wrecked... Opted for a small weekender with midtack- 2 hrs straight/ gooseneck... has nice ramp with pads, mats, etc... The Ramp is pretty heavy... springs and everything look ok. Anyone use a winch?

Thanks in advance for some help here...

Unless you have a ton of room I dont like to use a winch just because it Is a pain in the butt. and horses can get tangled in the cable.  A friend of mine builds trailers and uses half and old leaft spring and a shackle mounted to the ramp which is much better than the coiled springs, although a bit ugly it makes it so you can adjust the tension on the ramp to your liking. I will try to find some pictures.
