I've searched the internet for hours to get a sense of horse trailer costs. Okay, the big ones and new ones are easy. How about the old ones?
Can someone offer some insight as to what an old, roof-dented, single axle, one-horse trailer might be worth. The axle, wheels, springs and shackles are all good, but no tires. The lighting needs re-wiring, the floor needs replacing, and a good general clean-up is in order. Thanks.

I have to be honest, that trailer sounds like you could not give it to me. I have just spent too much money fixing up trailers, often times exceeding just buying a better trailer. That said, here is a rough breakdown of what it would cost. tires and wheels, 500-1000, replace floor, probably like 250 in materials and 2-3 days of labor, if you pay someone to do it figure it is going to be like 1000-2500, keep in mind you will probably have to do some work on the floor structure as well. re--wiring and lights assuming you need all new which will probably save you money in the long run you are looking at about 200-350 for materials and maybe another day of labor. paint, assuming you want it to look decent will probably set you back anywhere from 70-500 bucks for materials, and then 2-5 days for labor, keep in mind that it is mostly prep work that makes the paint not only look good but last.
so basically the trailer you described needs at the bare minimum $3000 to make it road worthy assuming there is no major damage and brakes work which in my experience on a trailer like you are describing never do.
That said I see trailers like you describe selling from 500-3000 near me all the time

The fact that it has a single axle is enough to disqualify it for my usage. A single axle trailer will have a rougher ride and lack of safety, if one of the tires has a failure. It takes a lot of time and money to rebuild a trailer. Look around and purchase the best one you can afford. There are many available, even if you have to look outside your residential area.
