Hey Everybody!

I am thinking about changing out the radio/cassette player in my 2000 Sundowner- it has an Audiovox in there now, and I'd like to get one with a CD player in it- anybody have any suggestions/opinions???

Also, I need help- I need to try to first clean and then re-glue the rubber seals around some of my drop down windows on my trailer- any suggestions/opinions???

Thanks for everbody's help!!!

Can't advise you on that radio deal...

As for the rubber around the windows, on a 10 year old trailer, I wouldn't try to glue or re-glue anything. My Silver Star doesn't have any glue, goop, caulk or anything of the sorts on the window seals and or gaskets. Everything was cut to fit so no sealer was necessary. Contact Sundowner, give them the serial number or your trailer and have them sell you new replacement rubber seals and gaskets for your windows. Your windows will them work and seal as they should.

If you're trying to clean the black spots off of the black rubber gasket molding, use an S.O.S. pad to gently clean the spots off.... DO NOT RUB THE PAINTED SURFACE with the sos pad!!! It'll take the paint right off!!

Does it look like this?

Or more the size of a standard car radio? Say 2" tall 7" or so wide? If that, then Walmart should have something...easy.

Cowgirl- That seal that you want to glue actually wasn't glued on originally. The trim & seal combination was made as one. You'll just replace the entire thing as was mentioned before (you buy it by the foot, and it isn't very expensive). Email Roger@SelectTrailer.com if we can help.

if this radio is the larger carriage type like used in the RV industry, you may want to look at the radio,CD and DVD combination units. cleans up the wiring and space required.

My '95 Sundowner 4H LQ has that same old tired radio/cassette combo they all came with in the 90's.  The cassette part of it is dead, and the radio reception is not that great.

I happened to notice that my radio has and input on the front, and after a trip the the Radio Shack for a $4 cable, I now plug my iPod or my Droid phone (with one of man's greatest gifts to music, PANDORA!) and listen to static free quality tunes all the time.  Much cheaper than replacing the radio, and much more enjoyable, if you ask me!  :)

Retento you said that you have a Silver Star. I was wondering if/where you purchased new window seals?

I have a 2000 Sundowner too. The window seals are a combined tube and clip. If you have the same and the tube and clip are separating...

Here's how I fixed mine. A small line of Gorilla glue between the tube and clip. Then I simply closed the window to clamp the tube against the clip. 24 hours later, the seal is almost good as new. Be sparing with the glue. It foams and expands as it sets, so a little goes a long way.
