I would like to have a light switch in the horse area just beside the walk thru door. I would prefer to use the existing lights which are only operated by the outside switch. The wiring to the existing switch is enclosed and the exterior toggle switch is riveted on. How can I tap into the lights with another switch or do I just need to add separate light? Thanks!!

To do this you would need THREE WAY switches...

If you can find a fused hot wire and install a single pole switch near the door and wire it to an existing light then you could control the lights from either switch but not be able to turn on with one and then off with the other, as noted this would require extensive wiring and switch replacement. This would be a fairly easy job and I assume you just want to control the lights from one OR the other location.

I would just add a porch type light on the slantwall. Much easier, unless you just need a lot more light that the horse area lights can provide.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think adding a new lights wins! I can hang a ceiling fan or two, but adding a toggle is plain ole too complicated :)
