I've heard of these,but cannot seem to find a whole lot of info. I live in NW Pennsyltucky and want to stop using tank heaters. Am looking for one that can be hooked up to undergroung piping. Any ideas? Thanks. Dan

If you can find one that is 100% freeze proof let me know. When the wind chill hits -30 to-40 or it is -20 it is hard to keep anything from freezing up. We put up a 3 sided wind break and have add copper heating wands to drop down the hole of our automatic water. We had to wire the copper wands in our selfs, but it sure does help.

Ritchie waterers are the most common in my area. http://www.ritchiefount.com/ I've seen them work just fine at -30F without the heat tape on the stand pipe. As a previous poster said, proper installation is key.

The Bar Bar A ones linked to above are used by a couple friends of mine and they love them. They did however, do the "cold weather" install that is more insulating and make sure they were either under an overhang or near a windblock. Never had a freeze up yet (SE Wisconsin)
