Got the news yesterday that my 7 year old TWH mare pulled a chip in her left hind feltock, that has to come out. She did this in the pasture somehow. The leg is swollen from the hock down. Only scratches are on the tip of the hocks. This is my THIRD horse with a chip that happened in the pasture. Just lucky I guess...

Alot of the swelling has gone down. Mostly just swollen around and just above the fetlock. Since the chip is in the front of the fetlock, the surgery will be affordable. Hopefully she'll be ready for surgery next week. It's really to hot around here in Aug to ride anyway unless your a real early bird. I'm going to be shopping for stall toys.

So sorry to hear of your troubles. Sure hope the horse recovers. You mentioned stall toys, although I do not keep my horses in stalls, I have used "pony pops" from time to time and my horses love em! I tried the "busy balls" but they do not seem to last as long as the "pony pops". I know those are not really toys but my horses liked to play with them. Good luck with your surgery.

I can stop whinning. The surgeon looked at the x-rays, and said the chip was an old one and doesn't need to come out. The swelling is way down, but she is going to need a couple more weeks padock rest. I am lucky after all!
