We have a new 10' LQ that we purchsed in March and have only spent a few weekends in it and have loved it so far. But this weekend it was 104 degrees in Glen Rose and the AC just couldn't keep up - about 85 inside was the best it could do during the hottest part of the day. I read the manual and understand that it is designed to only take the temperature down 15-20 degress below the outside temp. However, we have had a couple of different travel trailers (still have one we staid in last weekend for a non-horse event) and have never had a problem staying cool. Can anyone tell me what the recommended size AC unit would be for a 10'LQ x 8' wide?

I have a 14' LQ with slide ducted AC 13,500 BTU 7'6" tall. The first time in the heat I had problems. I talked to the conversion company they said take it a dealer to fix the problem. They had to install a baffle in the ducts to make the airflow come out of all the vents. It was coming out everywhere before I took it in but most of the cold air was being sucked back into the unit and not being distributed evenly thru the LQ. Now it works great. It takes a couple of hours to cool off the space when you first get set up but once it cools the space it keeps up very well. Prior to this I had a 12' LQ 7' tall and same ac it would cool the place in about 30 minutes. I live and camp in the South where it is hot and humid. Gotta have a good ac. The largest ac made that I know of is only 15K btu's.

Thanks - that may be something to check. I forgot to say it has an 8' ceiling, ducted air, and an 8800 btu unit. It is an all aluminum trailer with a conversion from a well-known company. Maybe they just missed something.

Have you contacted the conversion company yet? Maybe a problem with certain serial numbers on ac units....(had that problem with a fridge in our LQ) You may also qualify for a one year warranty on your LQ. Call and check it out. Best of Luck to ya..

If all it has is an 8800 BTU unit, there's the problem. Most LQs would have a 13500 or 15000. We've never had an LQ with that size unit, all ours are either 13500 or 15000-for any size LQ. Are you sure it's only 8800, and especially down in your part of the world?
