What could I put over the factory carpet in the dressing room floor to help keep it from getting ruined by my college aged son going in and out of it with muddy boots, etc....? Really don't want anything permanent but something that I could pull out if I decide to sell the trailer. I thought of putting a piece of OSB type board cut to fit or maybe even the green carpet type stuff that alot of people put under there awning. Maybe some linoleum (cut to fit). Afraid it would curl up?! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

I would suggest a thin rubber matting; like what is used by some lower dollar trailers for horse mats. They will roll up fairly easy for removal, and they are fairly lightweight. Our parts and service area carry these in stock.

Seems that a college age son would have learned by now to remove his muddy boots before ruining the carpet.... So, just short of cracking him up side his head, go to the carpet store and pick up some remnants, something you can pull out and shake off, or vaccum. That green grass stuff... Dirt and mud will just ooz right through. Linolium will try to roll up like a window shade. Or, just muddy it up and replace it all when you're ready to sell the trailer. OSB.... I won't say anything, (good) about OSB!!

You could also put down a piece of that outdoor carpet that looks like grass. It is easy to cut to fit, easy to pull out to clean (squirt with water hose and lay over the fence to dry). There is some different grades, I bought the cheap light weight grade so I could handle it and not rely on hubby. It has worked great for me.

I did the plastic rug runners thing in my first trailer. Lay them out with a 1" overlap at each edge, cut to fit the DR, and use Gorilla Tape or somesuch to tape them together. Voila!

I put down rubber backed door mat. Comes in diff. sizes and easy to cut. Held up well for 3 years now. Lowes or H.D. have it. H.D. has a bigger size 4x5.

Gosh, thanks for all the great suggestions!! And yes,believe it or not my 19 year old son does not want to take the time to pull his boots off if he needs to grab a bucket or brush or what have you! I am sure that I am not the only one with a son who might do this!! HAHA

Son does it. Husband does it. Sometimes even I am guilty. That's why we pulled the carpet and installed vinyl flooring! I can clean the entire floor in less than 10 minutes with a small whisk broom, dust pan and a wet towel. No dragging the vacuum out of the house, hooking up the extension cord...
You have gotten some good ideas here already. Before we pulled the carpet, I used bath mats. The rubber backing kept the dirt from filtering through and kept them from moving. They were easy to pull out and shake off during our stay. When we returned from a trip, I just threw them in the washer.
