Hi everyone:
My trailer has a gas shock slant divider and there is a sign that says don't haul with divider in
open position. I would like to haul a mare and foal and haul with the divider back, but there is no where to secure it. Any ideas? I'm not sure if the divider will get warped if I tie it back, or if I need to construct something to support it. Either way I am not sure what to do. Attached is a

From the picture, it seems as if you could just remove it.
Other than that, it's hard to tell! If you have a rear tack compartment, collapse it and use twine to secure the divider to it (wrap the twine around the latch and secure it to the center hinge on the tack compartment???). The main thing is to get it flat against the wall so baby can't get wedged underneath.

I looked at taking it out, but it would be a major process, due to all the various unbolting and the
weight of the divider. Husband says it would be quite a process. I don't have a rear tack, so
there is nothing to secure the divider to. The divider is super heavy and I am trying to avoid
doing this. I attached a little better picture.

I think there's something wrong with your attachment, it says it's 0KB and I can't get it to open. Knowing that you don't have a rear tack and you REALLY don't want to remove it (which I still say is best), then how about attaching a tie ring inside the trailer at the very very back edge in some sort of safe way, or threading the twine through the back door hinge to the tie ring outside?

OK, I take everything back, I have no idea what that is so I have no idea if it's OK to tie the divider open. I think if it were ME and the manual said don't do it, I wouldn't do it.

I think I will just call the manufacturer and see what they think. I'm rather worried about taking
the divider out and not getting it back on and aligned with the shocks. I think it would probably
take three people to just hold it up. LOL. I thought about adding a tie ring to secure it back, but
I am worried I might warp the whole thing with the weight not supported.

With no rear tack area, would the mare and foal fit together in the last stall with the divider closed? I've hauled two full-size horses in the last stall of my trailer. Make sure you have enough tongue weight, though.

ATTACH AFEEDBAG RING TO THE TOP OF THE DIVIDER AND ANOTHER TO THE WALL USE A DOUBLE CLIP TO FASTEN THEM TOGETHER THE DIVIDER WILL STAY SECURE AND SUPPORTED

Is the safety of your mare and foal not worth the time it would take to remove the divider? I bet we both know the right answer.

If this will be a continual problem, it might be worth the time and effort to install some appropriate hardware, to effect your desired result. An hour or so spent now would resolve future problems, and greatly lessen the chances of injury to your horses.
An eye ring installed into the sidewall and end of the divider, and fastened with a double snap worked well in our previous stock/combo trailer. Having the divider mechanically fastened open, made loading easier, and allowed a quieter ride without the dividers banging around while traveling.

I have exactlly what Gard is saying............
but, Against my rear folding tack door is a meatl loop (this is on by the manufacturer so this is for this), then I can swing my divider and hook it with a double end snap, it don't move or swing around. Sounds like yours is a newer trailer though, so don't know much about these new dividers. Mine is on the wall by big pins, it is heavy but I did it myself the first time, stored it in the barn, but was such a hassle storing it just put it back in and now its clipped back......................
