Basically you do this at your own risk.  We have lots of chances of being sued.  Nobody did it must have been dumb luck, or knowing the right people.  Had a horse riding birthday party.  Brought one of my kids friends.  She did not know how to ride very well.  The horse went straight into the barn, she got bruised a little.  She got up on a different horse and had fun.  Told her parents when we got back, just a lesson learned.  Last year needed a horse taken to a place to be breed, we agreeded on a price, time and day.  The person backed out, no problem.  It is up to you but I would take the advice and recheck with my insurance company, just in case you get into trouble.  When we offer we make sure about the horse, the person (friend or no friend), and what the risks are.  Good Luck on your decision.
