We've had a few decent days but a long ways from Spring. It rains every other day I think. Better make sure they didn't get flooded out from all the rain last week. I think the Jacks' Fork was supposed to be at record crest. They also had a major ice storm about a month ago so I'm hoping the trails aren't full of downed trees and limbs and washed out from all the rain. Surely it will start to warm up and dry up some.

I heard that Eminence had a lot of flood damage but expected to have repairs done in a couple of weeks... in time for some big ride. Flooding occurs frequently down here and it is good to call ahead to check after big rains.

A friend of mine sent me some pictures of Eminence. Water was clear up to the dining hall. If I can figure out how, I will attach a couple of pictures.58

The folks at Big Creek at Hartshorn tell me that the highway from SUmmersville to Emminence is closed and probably won't reopen for another 4-6 months.

We once met a lady and her husband, older couple, at Big Creek trail ride. They were from Texas, near the area where the river,I believe the Rio Bravos? I may be wrong,-anyway,the river canyon where the church group was camped several yrs ago and several of the group drowned when the river came up suddenly during a heavy rain. This type of storm was happening at Emminence when they were camped there, and, they, being naturally antsy about such things from the experience of where they were from, began to want to leave.
She told us that this did NOT go over very well there.

I was afraid they got major flooding up there and now it's supposed to rain again for several days. If anyone does go up there to ride this spring be extra careful at the river crossings as they have probably gotten really washed out and sometimes logs and debris gets washed in them and you can't always see it.

We camped at Whispering Pines in Jadwin. MO last weekend. The Current River was high but crossable with swift current. We could see where the flood waters had deposited flotsam and jetsome about 20 feet over our heads on horseback when we rode along the river. It rained some every day and there were tornadoes to the north and south of us.
A tornado ripped through Buffalo, MO on Monday. It'll be awhile for that damage to be cleared up.
Emminence looks bad. I'd definitely call before planning to go.
