It will run an 13.5 to 15.5 btu AC. Your heat strips in the A/C unit are probably 1500 watt so you are OK there. But when you ad the water heater??? What is the wattage of the water heater? Up front I'm going to say NO. I got a Yamaha EF3000ISEb and I know there's no way it will run the A/C and lets say a 1500 watt water heater at the same time. Starting the A/C takes alot of juice. I have also tried to run the 1500 watt A/C heat strips along with a 1500 watt space heater at the same time, no can do. If the A/C heat strips cycle off and try to come back on, it will pull more juice than the Generator will put out and kick the generator circuit breaker off. Your Honda is rated at 3000 watts at start up. My Yamaha is rated at 3500 watts, so it's output is 500 more watts and it just won't do it. Search the "generator" threads under "trailer talk" and you can stay busy reading all day about.... GENERATORS!

mingiz, Is your 3000, an inverter generator? What is the wattage of your heatstrips and water heater? And are they both energized at the same time? Just because they are both in the "on" position doesn't mean that they are both drawing current at the exact same time. I'm just wondering what kind of load you got. I have some ideas for an "electric" water heater in our trailer myself. My generator would run both, the 1500 watt space heater and the A/C heat strip, until the temp would drop and the A/C heat strip would try to come back on, then it would over load and the engine would try to compensate to no avail! Then kick off the generator breaker. May have had something to do with the circulating fan set on high.

Thanks

I've noticed quite a few comments about a generator not being able to run what it should (3500 watt not running 2 1500 watt appliances etc.). Don't forget that most of you also have a battery charger that will pull a pretty good load depending on it's size and if it's putting a charge on the batteries at the time. I know that If I try to run ac, microwave, and hairdryer at the same time I'll trip the breaker on my generator if the batteries are discharged (6.5kw). If the batteries are up already it's fine.

That's right greyhorse, and the older these appliances are the more current they pull. My little space heater has two settings, 1300 and 1500 watt. Plus this doesn't count the fact that it has a little fan that's probably about to seize up, so it may be pulling as much as 1700-1900 watts.

My wife still can't quite understand why she can't run the A/C, all the lights, and her "blast furnace" for a hair dryer all at the same time!! You girls out there know what I'm talkin about!!

Take your horse trailer to the Honda inverter dealer and see for yourself. When we purchased our honda, we knew that we would have to turn off the air to run the microwave. It was a no sacrifice for us since we liked the quiet while the honda is running. We have been so pleased with our inverter.

Yes it's the inverted type. I thnk the ac/heat strip unit is 13,500. Not sure about the water heater..But I have had both kick in at the same time and I have never had an over load occur on the generator. I don't remember the brand of water heater I have I can check later. I usually have the ac unit, water heater and coffee pot going at one time and it has never tripped the circuit. Hope this helps ya....
