I have a 2001 Astro van with a tow package. It is built on a truck chassis. Can I pull a 2 horse bumper pull that weighs 2270 lbs around town and short distances safely? It has electric brakes.

I pulled a 2 horse Bp with A GMC Safari several years ago lots of miles with no problems. How the weight is distributed to the tongue of your trailer will make some difference. My BP had a longer tongue so most of the weight was on the wheels. Check your tongue weight and see what the Astro is rated for and you should be O.K.

MAKE SURE you have the transmission cooler...I have seen trucks in which the Towng package was ONLY the wiring and the hitch!!!

I seem to remember Chevy boasting 5,500# towing capacity w/ the Astro. In addition to the good advice others have offered, check to see at what point you need an equalizing hitch. Be safe and good luck.
