can i just keep the mats that came with the trailer in the l/q for my floor and put throw rugs over them? we will have no running water and just 4 storage areas that can be moved if needed. can you put linoleum over the rubber mats? do i need to put some sort of water barrier under the rubber mats to keep moisture away from the mats?

I just am not sure.I'd ask a big flooring installer about the surface.I think you can install it over other than plywood, but just don't know about the rubber mats.Laminate wood is pretty in a LQ tho.Pretty indestructible.

You can install the "floating" type of wood flooring in your lq if you put down a vapor barrier first. The simple way is a sheet of felt or tar paper. Some flooring systems require the use of a thin padding which is also a vapor barrier.
Some flooring systems lock together with no adhesive, others are glued to each other. None is directly fastened to the underlaying floor.
If the flooring becomes damaged, it is a small enough area to replace at a minimal cost and effort. It can be easily installed in a couple of hours using only a small number of basic tools.
It is a definate DIY type of job and looks great when it's done

The wooden flooring cannot be installed over the rubber mats. This would also be true of most other flooring materials.
If you want to insulate the floor, you can install wood sleepers, add insulation and a plywood floor and cover with the flooring material of your choice.

Wood sleepers are pressure treated wood strips adhered to the metal floor, onto which a wood flooring can be attached. Insulation, wiring, and plumbing can be placed between them before they are covered with plywood. The plywood can then be covered with the flooring of your choice.

Hmmmm, that's interesting. That's the point I'm at right now. I am attaching the "sleepers" to the floor and starting to cut the insulation to go between them. I was wondering where the plumbing and wiring went. Thanks for that information.
