Hello Listers,I found an interesting trailer on eBay and I'd like any information on it. I've done an internet search and came up empty handed.

Has anyone seen/heard of this model of trailer? It's very European looking. I have written the owner of the trailer w/ some questions but in the meantime thought I'd pick ya'lls brains.

Thank you!

Deirdre

That's not a protype, but a Sundowner 2-horse bumper pull from the early 1990's.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. The person selling it on eBay is calling it a prototype. Do you happen to know anything about the trailer? Or have you ever seen one in person?

Thanks!

Deirdre

Loveduf-

I don't know why they really quit making them but I have an idea: There is very strong belief in the market that the "unusual" shape and "unusual" materials are(pick any combination of words: unreliable, weak, unsafe, uncomfortable, unfairly priced, untrustworthy, unstable, not roadworthy, not big enough, too big, not heavy enough, too heavy, unstable, unattractive, abnormal, etc. etc.)  Heck, I don't know anything about that trailer . . . it maybe that those things do apply . . . but I doubt it.

roll on!

PS I don't know whether it is/was a prototype.  I have seen one like it several times at horse shows in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and in OKC.  I thought it looked pretty cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was in great shape for a 94 model.

These were made from fiberglass boat hulls that Sundowner got from a boat mfr. They never went over very well, were expensive to buy and the mfr.( I think?) went out of business. Repairs were difficult and usually horse trailer repair shops didn't have knowledge to fix these. There are a few these scattered around the country yet today.
