We are finishing our 3 horse S & H trailer.  It has a 4 ft short wall with a walk through.  The vent at the top is framed for an air conditioner?  Just don't know where to go and what is a good product?  Any suggestions are welcomed.

Check with your local RV dealer. Several makes and models out there.  I have a 13,500 btu Coleman Mach III. I think if I had to do it again I would spend a little more and get a 13,500 btu Carrier rather than the Coleman. The Coleman has been fine but the Carrier is a better made unit and will out preform the Coleman on these 105 degree days!

Retento ... I have a Carrier RV unit. (So no axe from me to grind)   I'm interested in your thoughts on why and how the Carrier unit will outperform the Coleman unit.  Are there other features besides the condensate slinger that you like?

That slinger helps to keep it from raining inside the trailer if it's sitting a little off kilter! That Carrier is just a heavier built unit than the Coleman.........And that may not be a good thing with it swinging from the aluminum roof bows, but I like Heavy Duty stuff. I have always had trouble with the Coleman freezing up with the fan on "low cool", the filters are clean, I clean them after every show, so I run it on "high fan" and it seems to do OK. Friend of mine has a Carrier that cycles on and off a lot more than my Coleman, maybe his trailer is insulated alot better.......Anyway, How many tractor trailer reefer units you ever seen with Carrier written on them? Now how many of the same type trailers have you ever seen with Coleman reefer units on them? ................??? Me either!

I also have a 3 horse S & H with 4 ft shortwall. In my case the a/c unit was installed by S & H. It's the Carrier AirV and it works great. Even in the hottest weather this summer we had to keep the the a/c turned down because it cooled the space so well. I would assume that since this is the one S & H installs it might be a good one to look at.We horse camp and have found that the standard unit with heat strips will keep it comfortable -- but not toasty warm -- when the outside low temp is in the high 30's. If you plan to bunk in your trailer during weather when temps are lower than this you might want to consider the heat pump model of the AirV. (Our trailer is not insulated except for wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor carpeting.)BTW - How do you like your S & H?
