I have a 03 F150 and a 07 GMC 2500hd. I pull a 02 CM Drover. Trucks have 7 pin connectors. Trailer converted from 6 to 7 plug. Interior lights use to work with 6pin/7pin adapter only when truck lights were on.
Neither "truck" has power to the aux light stub on the female plug plug in. Cannot use lights in dressing room or stall area.
Is there a fuse or wire that needs to be installed or connected.
I think I read somewhere about a dummy fuse that needed replacing.

My interior trailer lights used to only work when the trucks lights were on. The trailer lights were wired into the running lights and my truck had no wire to the "hot pin". I had to rewire the trailer so the interior lights were on their own wire and I had to run a wire from the battery to the "hot pin". Some trucks don't come with a fuse in the aux space.

The GMC should have a dummy fuse in the large rectangular fuse box under the hood. Pop it out and put in a fuse. They have a 40 amp in mine. I am saauming that your truck came wired from the factory for towing.

SierraD do you know what the # is for the slot on the fuse block or can you tell me what the dummy fuse looks like? This truck came with trailer towing pk. and built in brake box.
Geeting cornfused when trying to decifer the owners manual.

The dummy fuse is a red plastic square plug. It looks like one of the other square ones but it doesn't have a window in the top of it. I think you will have to buy a fuse for it as GM seems to be cutting corners on things. Also, I think, if you are standing at the fender of the truck on the drivers side, with the hood open, the fuse you want should be in the upper left corner.

To complicate things some of the 07's come with the 40 amp fuse in them. If you are not getting the aux power to the rear plug you meed to look under the master cylinder for a wire taped up to a bundle there. Make sure that the wire you get is taped under the master cylinder, not in the wheel well. In it will be one with a connector on it (has a hole in the center so you can put it over a screw). This connector will only fit over one of the studs in the fuse box. Put it there and you will also probably need to get a metric nut to bolt it down with.
Your dealer should be able to handle this for free since you just spent big bucks for a new truck.
