I just bought a new trailer but it needs to be acid washed. The top and the doors (dressing room, escape door, and rear doors) are all painted aluminum, and the rest is bare aluminum, with some graphics. The owners manual says to not get the acid wash on the painted portion or streaking may occur, so I am hesitant to take it to a truck wash, but my local trailer charges an arm and a leg for an acid wash. Maybe I need to suck it up and take it there, but I thought I would seek alternatives first. Finally, how often do you acid wash you trailer? Is this necessary for maintenance, or just for looks? I want to do whatever I can to make this trailer last a long, long time.

I just did mine a month ago.  I had the usual black streaks coming down from the roof.  I used Klean-Ez to get the black streak off the white.  Just read the corrections on the jug.  It worked good after I read the instructions.  On stubborn stains you will use full strength. Once I was done I paste waxed all the white on the trailer. One day of washing and one day of waxing. I tell ya it is worth $100 dollars for someone else to do it.

Try a safer alternative. OrangeXtreme Deep Clean is a heavy Duty Degreaser, Cleaner, and Black Streak Remover. You can use this with a pressure washer and attain amazing results without hurting the environment or costing an arm and a leg. It also does not take very much time to perform the job. If interested contact me below.

Straight Simple Green in a spray bottle gets the black streaks with ease for me. Acid wash once a year keeps the aluminum roof from cuttin' loose with any futher black streaking.
