I'm looking at a used trailer and it has some decals on it for the cattle ranch that owns it. It is a alum trailer with partial white skin. The vinyl decals are on the white skin part. What I worry about is removing them and still being able to see where there once were. I looked at a trailer the other day that had removed their decals but you can still see where they were.

Would acid washing the trailer remove that?? I don't know what or why they can still be seen but just wondering if anyone has dealt with this.

I'm hoping that with this other trailer we are looking at and most likely buying it won't be a problem, but after seeing that one trailer it has me worried.

Even if you are able to completely remove the decal... the white finish under the decal has been protected from the weather, sun, dirt.  I'm afraid you'll still be able to see theshadow of the decal.

A bare metal finish might offer different results if it's acid washed.

We are fire/ems and regularly are changing our decals on the trucks and cars. We use Busy Bee's as they have a rubber tool that they put on a grinder that takes it right off. It doesn't scratch the cars and takes two seconds. They can tell you where to buy the rubber grinder thingy.... The number is 989-261-7447. They are very nice and helpful, they will know exactly what your talking about. We took the decals off our trailer which was a 1987. They are the original strips, went the entire length of the trailer and came off in about 15 min. It was stainless steel and after we washed and scrubed a little, you couldn't even tell. Good luck. Well the guy with the trailer just called and said he was going to remove the decals before we get the trailer and buff it out where they were. Will this work?? It is on the white part of the trailer. Not the bare alum.

I sure think so, if we were able to get the decals off our 87 without leaving a mark I'm sure yours will be fine. Also, it isn't much to have new ones made, incase there is a mark you could easily cover it up if you were to come up with a farm design. We have a FULL back window sticker in our truck and it was only $60.00.

Now you have the best of all results.  Wait to see how the former decals look before you buy it ...

Sometimes rubbing compound will blend in the different colors and help them dissapear.
