I need to purchase a weight distribution hitch for my bp trailer and was wondering if anyone knows which brand is best. I have seen the Reese, Equal-izer, Curt and some others. I have had several people say to get the Trunnion style bars as they are stronger but since the Curt hitches are considerably less than the others, is it safe to assume that they are not as well made? I would LOVE to find a setup that is in good use condition but I have even looked on Ebay and by the time you pay shipping, I think I could have bought a new one. Thanks for any advice!

I second Chadsalt here, have used our Equal-i-zer hitch 2+ years now with no problem. Is night and day difference using it than without, especially when trailer is loaded(3 horses and gear). Did eBay searching also, and for $400.00(free ship) it was a WELL WORTH investment.

Chadsalt, I am laughing b/c I have too have a Chevy Trailblazer with a "don't ask" 2h bp. I will look into the Equalizer and see what I can find! Are they better than the Reese ones with the chains?

I have another question about the Equal-i-zer. The pictures show those brackets that attach to the trailer. My trailer is not open in the v part near where it would hitch, it has a piece of aluminum over it. Would these brackets still work?

you would have to define "better".......i prefer the equal-i-zer to the traditional style wdh. there is also the added sway control feature built in, personally i dont feel the need for sway control on a 2h bp but it certainly cant hurt. as for the brackets, with any wdh there will have to be slots cut in the tongue "v" cover........the slots for the equal-i-zer brackets neeed to be about half the size of the snap up chain brackets. good luck. your trailblazer will do a fine job for you, despite the "nay sayers"........i know mine did.

My trailer is the same way...they just cut a small section out to accommodate the brackets.

I LOVE my Equalizer hitch! 27 I needed it and it is easy to use and makes a HUGE difference with towing. I haven't tried any others (no need) so don't know how they would compare. But as a single gal towing usually alone, I have no anxieties with my Equalizer hitch hooked up! 51
