About 7 months ago my usband and I(ok me) purchased a 1998 Bee 3H SL BP. The frame, floor, and roof, are all in good condition. There is ALOT of rust on the weld seems. y husband thought in was fixable when we bought it but now 7 month later all that has been fixed is a leak around the window in the dressing room. I am now wondering if we made a big mistake in buying this trailer. It was what we could afford for the size trailer we needed. Has anyone fixed a trailer in simular condition? Is it worth fixing? How labor intensive will it be? And where do we start? I will try and post pictures.

Lisa

I can share my experience with you. We bought a 1986 Circle J 2H slant for a great price , but it came with a ton of surface rust on the seams. We used a wire wheel on a drill motor for endless hours and then sealed it with a rust inhibitor before painting it. In the end the rust reappeared. We recently sold it.

We have a newer 2004 steel trailer now and as others will agree the newer steel trailers have much beter paint and paint prep quality than th old ones. If I had to do it again I'd look for Aluminum(If you can afford it, we couldn't) or a later model steel trailer that uses the newer painting methods. The rust work on that old trailer was the cure for me!

Take it to a paint and body shop.  They will be able to tell you what it will take to repair it.  You don't have to tell them you want to do it yourself, just ask them exactly what they are going to do.  They are usually more than happy to tell you if they think you are going to have them do the work.
