How much "repair" work is acceptable before a brand new trailer should just be replaced?? I have a Circle J that is a lemon!

It was just hauled back to Idaho from Colorado to have the roof "resealed and re-caulked" since it was leaking in several places and there was a "buffed out" spot on the roof that Circle J is not sure what it is from.

In addition the mats are falling off the walls because the glue was not cured correctly.  They have admitted to me that there is several problems with this trailer and this is what they call a "Friday Trailer" when no one really cares and just wants to get out of work.

It concerns me what else could be wrong with this trailer and I don't really don't want to be stuck with it!

I would say you are stuck, unless the dealer sees fit to replace it. I would also bet that his decision will be based on weather or not your trailer is sellable(i.e. common size, desirable, not a one off).

Circle J should get you a new trailer.  I'd stay after them until you are satisfied.  Get the dealer involved, but YOU need to be in constant contact with Cirlcle J. Nothing will hurt a company more than bad "press". You're in the press box now.  If they're at all customer focused, you should be getting a new trailer.  One that doesn't leak!

Just as n2ridin says, keep the pressure on. Talk about it in other forums. Maybe send copies to the dealer and Circle J. "The squeaky wheel..."

You've got nothin' to lose. The option is staying stuck with a lemon.

Can you suggest some other forums. I have only used this one. This is a brand new trailer that I have put about 50 miles on.

I'm betting these things never get fixed.  If a roof leaks from the factory it's ALWAYS gonna leak.

keep every repair receipt, exact records of every phone call/email you make to the dealer.. if your dealer won't return your $ or give you a replacement trailer contact your states Attorney General's office- consumer affairs dept.  explain your situation and I'll bet they can help.  good luck!

are there any major problems with the trailer other than mats not being glued or a leak? I'd be more concerend with bad axles and door falling off. I can't imagine replacing a trailer because of a bad glue job. I can certainly understand your disappoinment- a NEW trailer ( or anything else) shouldn't have shoddy workmanship but it does happen. I think it would be tough to convince the trailer dealer/manufacture to repalce your trailer now.

It sounds to me like they are doing their job by taking the trailer back to the factory to fix it. I wouldn't get excited about replacing it until they are done fixing it.

Hi,

I bet your new trailer has a fiberglass roof? I had my trailer a year when I noticed that the fiberglass roof had a few buffed out spots on it and also noticed that the roof was already cracking! I phoned the dealer that I had bought it from and he said to bring it in and they would look at it. Well, they sent it back to Idaho and replaced the WHOLE roof for me. NO CHARGE. My trailer is not a circle J but I think it is from the same manufacturer. I had a 3 year warranty so that is what saved me. Also the fact that the dealer is an awesome and honest person. Do you have any kind of warranty on the trailer? Remember, I had mine a whole year before I had noticed this. Make sure that you take pictures of this and date them. good luck-

I have had leaks with my Silver Star since it was new.  In the military and had to move before I could get it in for warranty work (left the trailer with relatives at old duty location)... SS wants me to pay them to fix the leaks now.

Heheheheh.  They may never see another penny of my money.

Good luck getting your problem fixed.  Sounds like you may be in luck.
