Just picked up an 1989 Trail-et trailer. The old plug was the 6 connector, my Ford is pre-wired for a RV 7 connector. I wired it to the code on back of the plug and also wired it to the picture on wiring 101. still nothing works. The brakes have their own ground, and they don,t work. Any advise would be appreciated.

I just found a wiring diagram for Trail-et, it seems that they wire the trailer like an  RV. Green for markers, Red for left turn and stop, brown for right turn and stop, yellow for back up. I will try tomorrow to follow this and see if it works.

Our 1988 Trail-et Falcon SST 5 horse GN has the wiring diagram on a big plastic sticker on the inside of the dressing room door, right under the s/n model placarding. It looks like it's not model specific - can send you a jpg image of it if you want - pm me.

FWIW - when we bought our plain vanilla 2-horse C&B (I think it's a 1994 model) it was wired the same way as you describe, with the big 7-prong Bargman plug, from the factory. Is this an industry standard now? Our flatbed equipment trailers have all been wired "normal SAE standards" and our trucks were all set up for that. I changed the C&B over to a 6-prong plug and matched it to the trucks....
