Hi, I've lurked on this site in the past and found a lot of invaluable info. I'm hoping now people will have some specific info for me. I'm looking at purchasing a used 1991 Logan Coach Malibu, 2H BP, straight load, DR. The present owner has had it for a year and doens't know anything about its past history. It's in good shape; any rust on it is only "bubbly," not holes through the skin, and some of the paint looks "cracked," much like the paint on my old '91 car. Inside the dressing room in the front of the ceiling the fiberglass is black and looks like maybe it's from a repair? Does anybody know how well the '91 Logan Malibus have held up over the years? Is there anything in particular I should look for or be aware of? Is it constructed of double or triple walled steel? What kind of axles does it have? Are there brakes on all 4 wheels? It does NOT have a breakaway brake box, is that typical for these? I've not seen a trailer before without one. Any other input from anyone will be appreciated. Sorry for the long post but thank you!

You should just call Logan, their number is on their website. I recently purchased an XTR and they were extremely helpful with my myriad of questions! Good Luck.

Hi, thanks for the good wishes. I did call Logan the other day and left a message. I'm waiting on a return call. Being that I'm looking at a used all steel '91 and it's now '07 and they've gone aluminum I'm concerned I won't get all the answers I need. I was hoping that with the number of people here and their expertise I might get those answers. There's gotta be some people here who've had or been around older Logans. As I'm sure you've noticed, there just aren't a lot of them here in the Midwest. ;)

Hi Stacey,
I have a 1989 Logan Coach Fernando model 3 horse slant load bumper pull. I am the second owner and I have had it for 11 years. It is an excellent trailer and very high quality. I think it was their "Cadilac" model at that time. It is fully padded and the walls fully matted. It is fully enclosed with windows on the front and rear. It has a ramp load. It has never had a leaky roof. The only things we have had to do were new tires last year, a new roof vent in the dressing room and new mats on the ramp. My horses trailer beautifully in it and it is very solid and hauls well. Unfortuantely I am getting ready to sell it only because I have a particular warmblood now that is too big for it. I have to go 7'6" tall now or higher. I am thinking it is triple walled. It has minimal rust and I would highly recomend a Logan. I have a friend with a 2 horse bumper pull about the same age as mine. She too loves hers and she has put way more miles on hers than I have on mine and she has had no issues. Hope this may help!

Hi Carol,
Thank you. That is helpful information. I'm glad to hear that your Logan has stood up to time so well. Granted, AZ is a different climate but this one seems to have been in MI all or most of its life and it too has minimal rust. How would I be able to tell if it is double or triple walled? I think it's double walled, but I'm not sure. I was also wondering what kind of axles it has. Do you know what yours has? I spoke with a dealer who sells Logans but he's familar with only the late model ones. He thought it would have the rubber torsion axles. Also, does yours have brakes on all 4 wheels and a breakaway box? He said he didn't think trailers that age were required to have them. I think I would install one. Thanks again for your advice. I haven't heard back yet from Logan themselves so I'm going to call them again tomorrow.

Hi Stacey,
The bubbling is body cancer starting, it must be scraped down to bare metal, and gotten the heck out of there. Be careful when doing this since there may already be a hole underneath, but in needs to be out of there. The black sounds like mildew on the fiberglass part, that will happen with fiberglass, and good ole' elbow grease will get that off. Below is a pic of my "95 Logan 2h slant g/n with front tack/sleeping area and rear tack. If u click on my link below u can see more. It's steel and there will be wear, there was with mine, but with some work, it's a go now! Logan made good steel trailers, I love mine!
