Hadn't been to Cedar Lake for a couple of years and was surprised when we got there and most of the campsites now have corrals for the horses. 2 at the single sites and 4 at the double sites. Had great riding weather.

The camp was full, but there are so many trails that you hardly ever run into anyone on the trails. They are having a drought, this is the first time in the 12 years that I've been riding there, that the creeks were all dry, and you couldn't have a campfire. The trails are in good shape and well marked.

I was at Wild Horse out of Honobia last week and we got 6" of rain there, so Cedar Lake probably did too. The Little River was pretty much dried up where we were, but was running high and hard after the rain.

HEADS UP!!! Cedar Lake equestrian campgound will be closed March 26th, 2007 for four weeks to repair the roads. So if you have plans for the area, you might want to call first.
You are right. Lots of riding there and once you get away from the busy camp, you don't see many people. One of the nicest horse parks around.

I just went to Cedar Lake the first part of November and there was plenty of water on the trail. It's a beautiful place to go and the pens were great! For those of you who like to ride there, a volunteer group has been formed "Friends of Cedar Lake" to help reroute some of the trails that are so rocky, especially those close to camp, and help with other improvements. A work weekend has been scheduled for Feb. 17. As OkieDar mentioned, the camp will be closed at the end of March for four weeks to redo the road coming into the camp. To be on the e-list for the Cedar Lake group, you can email tnwalkinghorsegirl@yahoo.com for more information.

I talked to the Assistant Ranger at Cedar Creek last Thursday regarding the closing of the roads in March. The construction is still up in the air but he said if I called back after the first of the year I would be able to get a definite answer. This is good because I have made my reservation for the end of March. I did check with Reserveusa.com about this issue and they were unaware but assured me if the road were to be close I would receive a refund. I guess I can only hope for that at this time. Here is the phone number for the Rangers. 918-653-2991
