I have verizon here in Md. I have the family share as my other half shares. I like Verizon as far as coverage and always have a signal unless in the valley of mountains. no long distant charges and if you call another Verizon phone there's no charge for that.My plan is for 700 minutes a month and I hardly use it all and I have nation wide coverage. I had cingular at one time and they sucked big time as far as service and coverage. I think Verizon  has a pre pay service also. go to thier web page www.verizonwireless.com check it out...

It all depends on how much you plan to use the phone, where and when you use it. If you just want something to have for an occasional call, the Prepaid might wo just read the fine print. Tracefones are tricky- you don't by minutes, you're buying units which are calculated like this- 1 unit=2 minutes. And they add up fast. If you use 1 1/2 minutes..thats 2 units. Its rounded up.

otherwise, just go online and check them out. most providres have a large range of plans. Just figure out what your needs are.
