I just read this in the latest issue of Horses for Life and just had to post it: "They speak in whispers. So often they are not heard. They speak in whispers. Whispers that touch sometimes so lightly upon our consciousness they remind us of the passing breeze of the fluttering wings of a bird. It is there for us to notice one moment and gone the next. Who notices the stirs of a passing breeze? They are so much bigger, ten times the size. They are so much stronger, which we have relied upon through our own climb to civilization. They have been our beasts of burden. Beast of Burden. Such an interesting phrase. Even here our words show that we see this truth. Who should they be to take up our burdens? They have taken up our burdens, our tasks, our work and today our pleasure. They have been there to work the fields and thus helped to feed us. They have taken up carrying, toting and bringing from one place to another all those things that we have wanted. Literally being the muscle, the power that we don't have. As big as they are, as strong as they are, they continue NOT to use that size or that strength against us. They never shout, or yell, when they are in pain. They do not turn to us, in anger when we do not understand. They never use that strength or power against us.Instead they speak in whispers. Whispers we just don't seem to hear. Beast of burden. Beast of burden who takes on the pain of an ill-fitting saddle, beast of burden who takes on the pain of a untrained hands, beast of burden who puts up with all of the contraptions that our minds can think of, beast of burden who takes on the lunacy of training and fashions of the day. Who takes up these burdens, with a whimper not a shout. So silent, so stoic. But they are never truly stoic. They are never truly silent. They speak in whispers. Perhaps it is time for us to say it is time for you to lay down your burden. You have bore a civilization upon your back. It is time for us, to not lay our burden of our wants and super ego upon your back but instead to begin to listen for the whispers. The whispers of an ear never going forward, the whispers when they say please let me look, the whispers when they say please be kind. The whispers of a world that we live on, but not in. We need to change who we are, and how we approach life to hear the whispers of a world that we control, yet still are apart from. And when we begin to hear the whispers, we begin to find a new world that we never new existed, even though all along it is the one that we lived in. Learning to hear the whispers is to begin to learn to listen with more than just your eyes".

Howdy!
A few years back when I delivered horses for a living, I had a young fellow who was sent on a pick-up and delivery out in Alberta. We had to pick-up a young horse and he had never as much as seen a halter. The young fella said he would load this horse, after an hour I asked if I could try as we where now running behind schedule. I took this horse and lead him around and in about 10 lucky minutes he loaded. I was asked by the owner if I was a Horse Whisperer, I said NO, I am a Horse Listener. This is what my Grandfather had taught me to be.
More people need to listen to this Beast of Burden, and not try whispering back

I have seen the same thing with beef cattle. the heards man walks out and just call to them and the cattle come to him . when others try it they just stand there and look around, it is something to see.
