I am looking into getting a newer p/u. I have a gas Ford right now.
My question is, who has a 6.0 3/4T crew cab? Do you like it? What kind of fuel mileage do you get? Any trouble pulling a trailer? I live on flat land, so no hills to worry about.

I have that same truck but ex cab and love it I pull a horse trailer almost every day to go rope and never have had any troble.I personaly would suggest a Duramax,manual or least a manual but I love mine get you one.

I have an extended cab with the 6.0 in it and usually get 12-13 pulling my LQ trailer. It pulls great on flat land but the bigger hills out west make it work a bit. On flat ground I would say its hard to beat, unless by a diesel.

I did have a 2001 ext cab with the 6.0 and it pulled our 2h just fine.However I have yet to see a 3/4ton v8 get more than 12-14 MPG empty much less pulling.Pulling should be more like 6-9 MPG.

I use to have an 01 3/4t reg. cab. I would get around 11 mpg not pulling. And when I would pull( bumper, 2h side by side, tack underneath mangers) it would get around 8 mpg. Then I traded it for a dodge diesel. AND WILL NEVER GO BACK.....

I bought a 1999 Chevy Silverado LT with extra cab, 4x4 and a 6.0 liter with dual exhaust, an automatic with 48,000 miles. I pulled a 3 horse GN (no LQ) for a few years, and now pull a 2 horse GN - trailer weight with 2 horses is about 6500-7000 lbs. I get 10 mpg pulling the trailer and about 15 highway mpg and 12-14 city mpg. I love my truck. I would not pull a bigger trailer with it though. I blew the rearend out pulling a fully loaded 3 horse trailer over the cascade mountains - blew a hole right through the "pumpkin" - amazingly, it was minutes AFTER I had unloaded all horses and unhooked the trailer, a few blocks from home. Talk about lucky! Breaking down on the freeway on a hot day would have been a nightmare. I think the previous owner pulled a big travel trailer, and that probably didn't help the life of the rearend. Overall I am happy with the truck for pulling my 2 horse GN.

I have a chev 04 crew cab 3/4 ton bought new. I pull a 28' LQ 4 star 3h. fully loaded I get 9.7 to 10.1 pulling "without" a wind.. Not pulling a trailer @ the speed limit...I get 15-17 hwy. I have had 3 ext cabs and 2 crew cabs and I havent had a problem with one and my Resale is great. Thanks MaryM

I have an 03 2500HD 6.0 automatic. I did add a spring for the size trailer we pull (35' long on the floor 4 horse with LQ and weighs about 12.000 lbs empty) NO PROBLEMS! Pull three horses every weekend and 80 gallons of water. Average about 10 MPG. Empty you'll get about 14 highway. A friend with the same truck pull a 3 horse with 3 horses, and 10' LQ and he swears by it. Great truck all around, plus, they're the best looking on the market now

I've got a 2004 2500hd with a 6.0 and 410 gears. I bought it new. I thought long and hard whether or not to go with a diesel and decided on the gasser. I figured I could buy lots of gas for the 5000 difference in price. The mileage might not be as good but the difference in the price and service buys lots of fuel. I pull a Cherokee Super Chief thats a 3h with LQ. It has an 8ft. short wall. Loaded for a trip with 3 horses the truck and trailer goes 17300 lbs. As anyone knows, that's a load. It pulles it like a dream. I think that truck would pull a house down. I just got back from a 5 day trip to the Missouri Ozarks and I checked the mileage in the hills only. Not on the interstate. I got 9 mpg. That ain't bad. Gas is coming down and it looks like diesel is staying up. Especially with the new fuel coming out. I know most folks here are really proud of their diesels, but I'll stay with my gasser. I can buy fuel anywhere at a cheaper price and saved 5 grand.

Mine is a 1500HD crew, 6.0. Nearly the same as the 2500. I mostly commute with it, but do use it to pull a steel 3 horse gooseneck. No problems, other than it would have been nice to have the 4x4 instead of the 4x2. Realistically though, I have yet to *need* it. Mileage is surprisingly good, (surprised me!) about the same as my '96 Ford straight 6. I am currently getting 15 mpg unloaded, 11 mpg pulling 3 horses, and 13 mpg with the air conditioning on. I don't know if it is the same in the U.S., but by buying the 1500HD instead of the 2500, I was able to get all the discounts and financing options that are available to the 1500's but not the 2500's. The differences between these trucks are really very minor.

I have a 2006 Chevy 6.0 2500HD 4 X 4 Ext cab short bed. I pull a 2003 Silver Star 3 horse with 5 foot short wall. It's also my commute to work vehicle (35 miles). I love my truck! Never had a problem pulling the trailer. No problems starting out even on hills, backing up hills, etc. No problems maintaining speed, passing, etc.
The downside is the gas milage - 7.2 - 8.0 pulling & 13 - 15 commuting. But like someone else said, it will take a lot of gas to get back to the $5K extra for diesel, so opted for gas.
