Hubby and I and some friends have reservations at Cherokee for Labor Day weekend. Has anyone been there? We would like to hear some reports from folks who've been there. What's the camp like? How are the trails? Etc.
The website looks great, but you know how that can be.

I haven't been there, but have spoken with the owner. (It was for sale last fall and/or the current owner was looking to take on a partner, at the very least.) Cherokee was a hunting camp for years before being turned into a Horse Camp. I have pals in AL who've been there and they say the food was good when they were there.
If its anything like the rest of Alabama, you'll have beautiful scenery. Although, most of the riding I've done there has been near Guntersville, Chiaha and Oneonta though which are on the other side of the state.
Let us know how it goes. I'm hoping to move to the Athens/Decatur area before snow flies....

Dwight, I have not ridden horses there, but before it was available for trail riding, I lived in the area (Florence) and hunted in the Cherokee area for many years. It is a beautiful place. Lots of hills and creeks. I've been meaning to book a ride there sometime myself.
