Hello - We recently purchased a 2 horse BP 4 star with a dressing room, slant load, trailer weighs 3200# empty.
We have a 05 Expedition, 3.73 axle 4x4 rated w/ heavy duty towing package - rated to pull 6000# with a weigh carrying hitch, rated to pull 8600# with a WDH.
We primarily will be towing one horse. Do we need a Weight Distribution Hitch? Horse Trailer dealer say no - trailer should pull fine with a regular draw hitch. Hitch company says that WDH is a MUST since will be pushing the receiver limit. However, Hitch company says the installing the WDH may be a problem since a lot of BP trailers have a short tongue.
What to do? Any suggestion or comments that you may have are greatly appreciated!

we cant really answer that with out the loaded trailer tongue weight and the max tongue weight as printed on the reciever. i suspect you will need a WDH, as the factory reciever is likely 500#-600# rated for WC mode. the steel trailer in my sig has an empty tongue weight of 650# and loaded with my 2 horses and tack it is ~1000#. maybe some one with an aluimnum trailer could chime in....although my empty trailer is only 3600#, not much more than yours.
