Chadsalt, you're killin' me , that was too funny, "maybe, but keep fuses handy" But the truth is, I don't have a much better answer, and I'm pretty good at wireing, if I do say so myself! lol, But seriously, I'd have to think that what he has there is the four basic wires for the lights, you know, rh turn, lh turn, running, and ground, but then also has a wire for an electric brake axle. It's really hard to say without being able to look at things. I would try the ole' battery charger and nail trick to find out what's what before I'd take a chance on backfeeding some current where God never intended it to be!!! Bet any of us could figure it out in 5 min. if we were there with a few tools. A little more info. on the trailer wouldn't hurt. Is it factory wires or "sideshow Bob" wireing, does it have a brake axle (or two), do all of the wires go into a 5 way plug on the trailer end or is one just hangin' free, as Reg would say "details, details".

a four way DOESN'T allow for elec. brakes, but what the feller is sayin' is he has 5 wires not just 4 and 2 out of the 5 have a tracer. The whole deal is slightly odd, that's why it would help to know if it's factory or not. Maybee the 5th wire doesn't go to brakes at all, but some backup/load lmps. like I said we need a bit more info. I take it that he is fixin' to put a plug on to his trailer and needs to know what wire goes where.

Chadsalt, that's an idea, I didn't think of that, not sure WHY they would be, but, they COULD be. That's why that other feller needs to get out his trusty battery charger and do some 'sperimenting. Tell ya the truth, I wasn't quite sure if the wires were one color with a tracer or if the edges still had some of the other insulation stuck to them from where they were pulled apart, you know like a four way flat ribbon of wire, when you seperate the wires sometimes some of the insulation will still be on the sides of each other.
