ok I went to see two horses I found in a add they were selling a 7 year old qt/arab mare and a 20 year old Appaloosa gelding. they said they would give me everything they had saddles fly masks brushes extra food etc. for only 2,500. well when I got there I found out that the 22 year old had a split hoof was blind in one eye and had a patch of hair missing from his nose that would never come back. they said they rescued the 20 year old from a abusive owner which I believe. im just wandering if it’s a good deal. or do u think I should get it for cheaper.

From your post it sounds like you are already doubting this "deal" and the horse in question. Use common sense on this one. Doesn't hurt to offer less on this sale but if your gut instinct tells you to keep looking, then keep looking.

I am guessing the saddles are not that nice as well.  With the horse market being low like it is this way, it sounds a little high.  Seeing that none of them would be registered, I would think twice, especially since the older one had a split hoof.  You might face more expense than it is worth with that one.

Since you are new to this game, take someone who is very knowledgable with you to look for a horse. Don't buy anything that has a potentially seroius problem, riding or health. Pass on this "deal"!

Ok I took one guy who new horses the first time but he didn’t know what was a good deal he knew about horses but not how much to pay. ill probably take my aunt who’s in the same situation who doesn’t spend to much money on horses maybe she can bargain them down to a fair price.

Run fast the other direction don't waste any more of your time and other's, there are good horses out there a lot cheaper that is rideable, the quarter arab well that tells it's own story unless that is what you want and the old horse are you going to take it to the killers or pay a backhoe bill to bury it this old horse is not sound now and never will be. If you want something to look at in the pasture and not ride have at it, good luck.

All I can say is if you are new to the horse stuff and you can tell stuff is wrong...then kick up your heals and run the other way. Don't turn your first horse ownership into a nightmare of vet bills and goodness only knows what else. Since you say this is a rescue case i believe its even more reason for you to hightail it away from this horse. Usually rescue cases are not good for first time owners. JMHO

Our stable has "rescued" several horses over the past few years, I have buried all but one.  Not fun stuff.  Please do yourself a favor, think with your head and not your heart.

Amen JD. This would not be a good deal if they gave you the horses for free, you need someone to help you that knows horses and what they are worth and what would be suitable for your first time owning a horse.

You asked for advice but didn't like what you heard so that is "bashing you"?? I reread the replies and no one was arrogant. If you really don't want good advice don't ask for it.
