You didn't give much info.
Is this a gooseneck trailer ?
Where is it hitting ?
If the trailer is hitting the sides of the box, extend the coupler tube.
An inch or so won't make much difference to the trialer's geometry, check tire temperatures after say 10 miles of highway driving to see if you have tilted the trailer so far back that the rear tires are carrying more load than the front ones. If there is a perceptible difference in temperature between the trailer's front and rear tires you've probably tilted it back too far. Start out with properly inflated tires, of course, check them when COLD, e.g. not driven more than a mile in the preceeding 3 hours.
If this doesn't answer you question, please supply more detail.
