i would guess.....neither. why would we want any play at the connection? the truck and trailer both have their own suspension.
the few people ive talked to about them were "over-trucked" (1 ton w/smaller GN and....dear god it rides like a TRUCK)so maybe if they had a more appropriate vehicle the ride wouldnt be so stiff to cause them to worry about it.

I know two people using the cushion glide coupler, and they love it. They say it takes the jerk (front to back) away. This should make it easier on the rear-ends.

Thanks for the info ND CowboyMy truck is an older Chevy so the suspension is not like the newer trucks out there. Willing to try anything BUT that NEW truck payment!
