I have a 2005 F150 w/a shortbed, and a friend of mine is getting rid of his 2 horse gooseneck trailer. The trailer is a 2001 Logan Coach Competitor and I don't have all the dimensions. The Logan coach page doesn't even list the competitor.
Does anyone have experience with either hauling with a F150 or even with that type of trailer? Or where I can get more information on it?

If you can get the VIN number off the trailer, e-mail that to the Logan Coach Customer Service Department and ask for specs on that particular trailer. I did that with a Sundowner I was looking at and Sundowner sent me an entire page of specs on that exact trailer. They should have all the information in a data base.

When you say "short bed" do you mean the 5.5 ft or 6.5 foot bed?
If the truck is 4x4, you need to check the clearance between thebottom of the gooseneck and the top of your truck bed. The 2004 and newer F150s have ridiculously high bed sides. Even dropping the tail gate could be troublesome.

With a 5.5 truck bed you'll need to be very careful not to bump your cab with the gooseneck nose while turning sharply. When I went from an 8ft bed to a 6.5 shortbed I was amazed at how much difference the 1.5ft made in turn radius ability. Do a search on this site for lots of info on turning goosenecks with different length beds. Having a radius nose or a tapered nose will help,as well as having a hitch extender that attaches the gooseneck ball further back from your cab, but keeps the weight over the axle properly. I have a '04 F150 Shortbed truck (5.5' bed) that I am pulling an all aluminum 2 horse with. It handles it just fine and I have enough turn radius with the Pop-up hitch extender to not have any turning issues. However it absolutely will not work without the hitch extender. The brand name on the hitch extender is "Pop-Up". The gooseneck hitch I purchased is from BW. You will have to purchase a gooseneck hitch made specifically for the year and make of your truck. The Ford's have very hard frames that cannot be drilled or welded on (so I was told by more than one company) We installed the BW ourselves. It was moderately difficult, but do-able.
