Yippee, another GM recall. Hopefully I'll get the recall notice before the problems arise with the seatbelts in my truck(s). And not end up like the tailgate cables that failed just before the recall notice turned up in the mail, and $35 later. But hey, better safe than sorry.

Yeah those darn tailgate cables took forever to get to dealers. I had to have normal ones installed on the Denali I drove last summer while waiting for the replacement ones. Amy when are you going to send me pictures of you and your Duramax?

FTguy,
You got left out in the cold!! Shame on GM for not letting you know. I have '00 and a '04 Silverados and both had the recalls for those cables.
Oh and Mr. Truck, you really want a face with the name don't you? Sorry I keep forgetting to tell my husband to take a picture of me with his paychecks so some guy in Colorado can put it in a book.

FTguy, I think it covered more than 5 years, here is the recall website, http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/ One of the cables on the Denali I reviewed all last summer tuned into black powder and just broke in half. You can also take your truck to a GM service center and have them look up your VIN in the national data base. Glad I wasn't sitting on the tailgate picking my nose when mine broke, could have poked an eye out.
Amy, I'm trying to make you famous, get you on the Tonight show with your Top Ten list for why you drive a big truck.

I had to PAY for my tailgate cables, because my late model 99 Silverado was made 6 months before the cables that had a "much higher failure rate". I thought I might be able to ask for some variance, but the dealer said it all goes by VIN and he couldn't help me...unless I PAID!
